SIOUX CITY -- Jerome H. Slotsky, 85, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Hallmark Care Center following a lengthy illness. Services were held Nov. 11, 2011 at Congregation Beth Shalom, where Rabbi Guy Greene officiated. Burial was in Mount Sinai Cemetery. Jerome was born June 2, 1926, in Sioux City, the son of Louis and Jenny (Golder) Slotsky. He attended Central High School, graduating in 1944. He then entered the U.S. Army the following September. He was married to Ilene Wisensee in 1967, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They were married for 20 years, but had no children. Jerome owned a sundries business for a while, then owned and operated two laundry mats in Sioux City. He worked as a bartender for the Patio for 15 years. He lived at Pheasant Acres for 17 years before moving to Hallmark Care Center in 2008. He was known for his great sense of humor and continuous jesting. He leaves behind his special friend, Luci Sampson of Sioux City; his longtime friends, John and Karla Vlahoulis of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister-in-law, Jeanene Sloane of Palm Springs, Calif.; several nephews and a niece from California; and many friends at Pheasant Acres and Hallmark. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; and an older brother, Hal Sloane. He will be missed by many.
