SIOUX CITY -- Betty L. Mook, 80, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Floyd House. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at Glendale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Betty, the daughter of George and Bertha (Rickman) Banta, was born on Sept. 27, 1931, in Oto, Iowa. She graduated from Oto High School and later from St. Vincent School of Nursing. Betty married Leonard Raymond Stowe on Jan. 21, 1951. Leonard passed away in 1964. Betty later married Don Mook on Oct. 1, 1966. She had lived in Sioux City since 1951 and had been a resident of the Leeds area for 45 years. Betty worked for Ingleside Nursing Home as a supervisor until health problems forced her into early retirement. Betty enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time with her family. She was very active in Glendale Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was also involved in Lady's Aid. Betty is survived by her husband, Don Mook of Sioux City; one son, George (Pam) Stowe of Bemidji, Minn.; one brother, Merle (Darlene) Banta of Sioux City; two sisters, Ona (Donny) Finzen of Sioux City, and Virginia (Randy) Pike of Decatur, Ark.; four grandchildren, Ben, Daniel, Michael, and Krista; and seven great-grandchildren, Rayni, Geordan, Grace, Isaiah, Rylie, Noah, and Chantee. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha; three brothers, Dwayne "Tuck", George "Dewey", and Charles "Chuck"; one nephew, Rick; and her first husband, Leonard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Glendale Baptist Church to be used for a video and audio upgrade.
