Lola L. Williams

SIOUX CITY -- Lola L. Williams, 92, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at a local hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery alongside her beloved husband. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Lola was born Aug. 14, 1919, on the Barber family farm just outside Lane, S.D., the youngest of five children of Charles and Sylvia (Lacey) Barber. After public school in Lane and commercial college in Sioux Falls, S.D., Lola went on to a successful career in office administration with several firms, culminating in positions in Sioux City as a vice president with Postal Finance and later as a director of Lincoln Seed and of the Al Williams Corporation. She married Albert C. Williams on Feb. 7, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1989 after a prolonged illness. Lola is survived by her sons, James Charles and wife, Loydeen Williams of Lawton, Iowa, and Dennis Dean and wife, Colleen Williams of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren, Jeffry Bryan, Joel Bryce, Mary Beth, John Bruce, Darren Lloyd, Terri-Anne, Alexander James (Sheena), Mandy Lynn Nichols (Michael), and Jamie Margaret; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert C. Williams; daughter, Vicki Kay, who died at birth; great-granddaughter, Kailey Lynn Nichols; three brothers, Lake, Leo, and Lowell Barber; and one sister, Lois Reynolds. Memorials may be given in Lola's name to the family.
