SIOUX CITY -- Stanley W. Rich, 75, of Sioux City died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, in Sioux City following a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 in Mount Sinai Cemetery. Memorial services will immediately follow at Congregation Beth Shalom. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Stanley was born April 26, 1936, in Sioux City, to Simon and Sally (Gertner) Rich. He attended schools in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in June 1954. He then attended the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 1958. Upon graduation, he joined the family business, Merchants Bureau, and for many years was active in the real estate business in the local area. Stanley was an active member of the Landmark Masonic Lodge 103 A.F. & A.M., and Abu Bekr Shrine Temple. He had played the trumpet for many years with the Shriner's Brass Band and the Sioux City Symphony. Survivors include a niece, Janet (Levitt) Stevenson of Santa Barbara, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nancy Levitt Rosenthal; a nephew, Tom Levitt; and a niece, Bonnie (Levitt) Weiss. Stanley brought joy and a big smile to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Congregation Beth Shalom or the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple.
