Marvin J. Sands

Marvin J. Sands, 89, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Countryside Senior Living. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Marvin was born on August 24, 1922 in Danbury to Robert and Minnie (Austin) Sands. He attended schools in Danbury and Rural Anthon. He was married to Vera M. Chase on March 6, 1944. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2005 in Sioux City. He worked as a farmer all his life retiring from farming in 1976. He later worked several years and retired from Cargill. Marvin enjoyed gardening and was a true blue farmer. Marvin is survived by his 4 children; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 2 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and 3 brothers.
