HINTON, Iowa -- Gerald A. Klein, 71, of Hinton passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at his residence. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Gerald was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Anthon, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Thressia (Hansen) Klein. He graduated from Moville (Iowa) High School in 1958. Gerald married Regena Thoreson on July 8, 1961 at Calvary Lutheran Church. He worked for EMW Groschopp Inc. and Dyna Technology for many years, before retiring from Sioux Tools in 2002. Gerald loved to farm, bowl and golf. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Regena Klein of Hinton; his mother, Thressia (Hansen) Klein of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter, Coleen Murphy of Sioux City; grandchildren, Lacey and her husband, Justin Mills of Wichita, Kan., and Zach Kovarna of Kansas City, Mo.; a great-grandson, Easton Mills; a brother, Brad and Deeney Klein of Spring Lake, Mich.; three sisters, JoAnn and Kenneth (Dutch) Jahn of Moville, Iowa, Linda and Bob Peters of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Deb and Mike Padomek of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Clair and Linda Thoreson of Hinton; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Alan Klein in 1988; and parents-in-law, Gene and Eldora Thoreson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
