SIOUX CITY -- Fred L. Bruno, 84, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at his residence. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Fred, the son of Phillip and Christina (Calfior) Bruno, was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Sioux City. He attended Central High School and later Western Iowa Tech Community College. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy and served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Fred married Ruth Miller on June 5, 1952 at St. Joseph Church in Sioux City. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident and the last of 10 children. He worked for Johnson Biscuit Company for 12 years and Iowa Public Service for 27 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed listening to music, and having coffee with his friends every Wednesday. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fred is survived by his wife, Ruth of Sioux City; a son, Phillip Bruno of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, an infant, Fred, and Sam; and seven sisters, Mary Nancy, Jenny, Rose, Josie, Louise and Dolly. Pallbearers will be Phillip Neri, John Johnson, Bill Brown and Jay Berg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
