SIOUX CITY -- Pearl I. Okonoski, 87, of Sioux City died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at her home. Private family graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Okonoski was born Oct. 22, 1924, in Sioux City, and was a lifelong Sioux City resident. Pearl Irene Walker, daughter of David Thorpe and Emma (Nation) Walker, graduated from Central High School in June 1943. On June 17, 1946, she married John F. Okonoski at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. During her working years, she worked for J.C. Penney Co., S & H Green Stamps Store, Sears and Fantles. She belonged to AARP and the Siouxland Senior Center. Survivors include her husband, John F.; one daughter, Barbara Ann and her husband, Leif P. Solheim of Decatur, Ill.; one son, John David and his wife, Barbara Jean (Luhr) Okonoski of Schererville, Ind.; two granddaughters, Jill and her husband, Matt Barker, and Jenna and her husband, David Carnahan; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her mother; father; two brothers, George and John Walker; and a sister, Ruby Sherrill.
