Donald M. Schroeder

Donald Milton Schroeder, 68 of Sioux City, IA passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites. Donald was born Dec. 12, 1942 in Sioux City the son of John W. and Jean L. (Moss) Schroeder. He grew up in Sioux City where he graduated from Central High School. Don enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. On June 8, 1968 he married Ellen C. Ernst in Le Mars, IA. To that union three children were born. Don worked for Wells Dairy for almost 33 years. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going for long drives. He was an awesome grandpa and loved spending time and with his grandchildren. Survivors include his 3 children, Lisa Dugdale and her husband, Dennis of Missouri Valley, IA, Brenda Pope and her husband, Terry of Bellevue, NE and Mike Schroeder of Council Bluffs, IA; 5 grandchildren, Kilie Dugdale, Ty Dugdale, Ryan Oestreich, Nicholas Oestreich and Kaden Pope. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Ryan Oestreich, Ty Dugdale, Dennis Dugdale and Terry Pope, Nicholas Oestreich and Greg Oestreich.
