SIOUX CITY -- Edna Marie Wilson, 82, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital following a hard-fought battle with cancer. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. with the family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Born on Oct. 23, 1928, in Sioux City, to Peter and Marian (Taft) Jensen, Edna was the youngest of eight children. She grew up in Sioux City and was a graduate of Central High School and Briar Cliff University. Edna married Delbert Lyle Wilson on April 11, 1952. They shared a rich and loving marriage until Delbert passed away in 1978. Following Delbert's death, Edna showed tenacity and took the courageous step at the age of 50 to pursue a degree at Briar Cliff University. She achieved her bachelor's degree in accounting. Edna worked for several Siouxland employers, but her greatest joy and full-time commitment was always to her family. Edna's infectious smile and loving heart brought a true sense of happiness and peace to all those around her. She took special pleasure bringing happiness to others and always putting others ahead of herself. She will truly be missed by many, but will always be with us in heart and spirit. Edna loved the home she created, bargain shopping, gardening, music, dancing, watching birds and most of all her family. Survivors include her children, Marilyn Bartlett and her husband, John of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bonnie Crary and her husband, Steve of Sioux City, Rick Wilson and his wife, Kari of Florissant, Colo., Jim Wilson and his wife, Angie of Sioux City; brother and sisters, Esther Wilson of Sioux City, Stan Jensen and his wife, Barb of Anaheim, Calif., and Lillie Balog of Coleman, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Nick Bartlett and Stacy Porkorney, Danielle Bartlett, Sean Crary and his wife, Jill, Sarah Crary, Tanner Wilson, Trent Wilson and Tori Wilson; and a great-grandbaby on the way.
