SIOUX CITY -- Mabel L. Hunt, 83, of Sioux City passed away Friday, September 23, 2011, at a Sioux City nursing home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Trimble United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Martha Anderson of Trimble United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Mabel was born May 11, 1928, in Mapleton, Iowa, to Henry F. and Anna (Dorale) Neddermeyer. She attended school in Kingsley, Iowa. She married Robert Hunt on July 24, 1960, in Sioux City. Mabel worked at Sears for 40 years in the shipping and receiving department. She was a member of Trimble United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, served communion, was chairman of the ladies circles and was a member of the people prayers. Mabel and her husband were among the 14 original residents at North Park. Mabel did laundry, ironing, mending and cleaning for some of the other residents. When residents would go away for a weekend or vacation, Mabel would collect their mail and newspapers for them. Survivors include her husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Bruce and his wife, Mary of Sergeant Bluff; two nieces, Rose Peters and Jane VanLaningham; two nephews, Randy VanLaningham and Mark Willer; several great-nephews, several great-great-nephews; several great-nieces and several great-great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Henrietta, Mary, Ruby and Rose; four brothers, Fred, Charles, Rueben and an infant who was stillborn; and two nephews.
