Calvin D. Crosby, 57 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital comforted by family. A Funeral Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at the 4-Directions Center, 613 Water Street, Sioux City with Pastor Minnie Bell officiating. Burial will be on the Winnebago Reservation on Saturday, September 17th. Visitation, with family present, will begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday, and will continue until 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the 4-Directions Center. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Calvin was born on January 4, 1954 in Winnebago, Nebraska to Kenneth and Mabeline (White Eagle) Crosby. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before attending junior college for two years. He married Violet Medina on January 28, 2000. Calvin was the Housekeeping Supervisor at Winna-A-Vegas Casino, a position that he held until his health forced his early retirement. He was an avid football fan, enjoying the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Calvin was a proud member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin. Calvin is survived by his wife Violet of South Sioux City, Nebraska; step-sons Travis and Jared Frazier of Sioux City, Iowa; brother Adam Crosby of Omaha; and sister Kendra Bell and her husband William of Emerson, Nebraska; and three step-grandchildren. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
