LAWTON, Iowa -- Lowell B. Anderson, 58, of Lawton passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 9, 1953, in Tracy, Minn., the son of Benjamin and Louise (Klinker) Anderson. He attended school in Worthington, Minn. He later obtained his general education diploma. He also attended Western Iowa Tech Community College for carpentry. He married Cindi Johnson in 1973. To this union, two children were born. He met the love of his life, best friend and soul mate Margie Bonilla Holifield on Sept. 14, 1998. They were later married on May 21, 2001, in Elk Point, S.D. Mr. Anderson was employed as the public works director for the city of Lawton for 16 years. He loved his work and was always there to help no matter what time of day or night. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. In his free time, Mr. Anderson loved to fish, spending time outdoors and woodworking. He had a love for old classic cars and listening to Beatles music. He was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. He loved working on crossword puzzles but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Margie Anderson of Lawton; two sons, Mike and his wife, Kenna of South Sioux City and Matt of Sioux City; two daughters, Sarah and her husband, Josh Rockstad of Lawton, Okla., and Megan Mote of Lawton, Iowa; two stepsons, Matt Holifield and his wife, Mallisa of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Justin Mote of Lawton, Iowa; three brothers, Bill and his wife, Betty Anderson of Sioux City, Jim and his wife, Carol Anderson of Sioux City, and Jerry Anderson of Sioux City; a sister, Jeannie and her husband, Dan Harry of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Kapri, Jacob, Ryan, Joshua, Adam and Naylei; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law; and a niece.
