DAKOTA DUNES -- Sue Elizabeth (Jeffers) Loughridge, 83, of Dakota Dunes and Naples, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, in Naples. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 608 Nebraska St., in Sioux City, with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Sue Elizabeth Jeffers was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of Walter Charles Jeffers and Bertha Irene (Pratt) Jeffers. She attended the University of Northern Iowa. She married James Barry Loughridge on March 20, 1954, in Omaha. She had lived in Sioux City, Primghar, Iowa, Omaha, Milwaukee, Wis., and Dakota Dunes. She was a housewife. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and American Girls. She enjoyed politics, tennis, reading, and crossword puzzles. Survivors include her husband, J. Barry Loughridge; children, Anne Loughridge, James B. Loughridge Jr. (Julie), Jane Loughridge Casto (Mike); grandchildren, Elizabeth Loughridge, Jeremy Loughridge, Chris Casto, Katie Casto; stepgrandchildren, Travis, Emily and Ashley Nummer; brothers and sisters, Gordon Jeffers (Sharon), Walter Jeffers (Pat), Beverly Rickard, Barbara Davi; brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Martha Loughridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers will be William Oppenheimer, Michael Casto, Chris Casto, Thomas Brown, Robert Ellis and Henry Tygar.
