SIOUX CITY -- Jeffrey W. Johnson, 62, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011, at a local hospital. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Brian Howe officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Jeff was born May 19, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Donald and Joanne (Hall) Johnson. He attended Leeds High School and graduated in 1968. After graduation, Jeff enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent 11 months in Vietnam. He married Sally Krause on July 9, 1971, in Tacoma, Wash. Jeff worked as a truck driver for various companies. He loved collecting baseball cards and watching any and all sports, although his favorite teams were the New Orleans Saints and the Texas Rangers. Jeff was a friend of Bill W. He also was a member of RiverzEDGE Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and had a great love for his dogs and granddogs. He is survived by his wife, Sally; a son, Chad Johnson of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Holly and Jim Petzoldt of Sioux City; two grandsons, Caleb and Jake; three brothers, Bill and Karla Johnson of Illinois, Doug and Bev Johnson of Arizona, and Kevin and Penny Johnson of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Sharon Krause of Colorado; many nieces and nephews; two dogs, Sophie and Maggie May; and three granddogs, Mia, Hurley and Lucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his in-laws, Howard and Lila Krause.
