Betty A. Gill, 61, of Sioux City passed away Friday, September 2, 2011 at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Nelson Berger Northside Chapel with Rev. James Travis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Betty was born March 12, 1950 in Sioux City, the daughter of John P. and Fern L. (Fursee) Johnson. Betty worked as an instructional coordinator for the Sioux City School systems for a number of years. She was a very active volunteer for Mended Hearts and Court Appointed Special Advocates. Betty was also a member of the Salvation Army Church. In her free time, Betty loved to play bingo. Survivors include her sons,Keith and wife Christee Johnson of Sioux City and Ronald and wife Bernadette Wyatt of Cheyenne, WY; 6 grandchildren,Nichole, Amy, Olivia, Justin, Zachary, and Colin; and one great grandson, Kooper; a brother Ed Rush; and 3 sisters, Margaret Bogan, Mary Craig, and Carrie Johnson. She was preceded in death by her son Ben, parents, and 3 brothers, John Rush, Jim Johnson, and Leon Johnson.
