Raymond Patrick Pierre, 81 of Sioux City, IA passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home after a short illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at the Church of The Nativity with Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. today with the family present 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a rosart at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com Raymond was born December 3, 1929 in Hawarden, IA the son of John and Amelia (Lechtenberg) Pierre. He grew up in Kinglsey, IA and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1947. On June 5, 1960 he married Cecilia Tokarczyk at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sioux City. Ray worked for Marx Truck Trailers Sales until his retirement in 1992. He loved spending time with his family. Ray especially enjoyed his grandkids and attending their sport and school activities. He was a member of the Church of The Nativity. Survivors include his wife, Cecilia of 51 years; 2 daughters and their husbands, Sandi and Bob Cannon of Sioux City, Kathy and Dave Sandoz of Sergeant Bluff, IA; 5 grandchildren, Rob, Chris and Cassie Cannon and Jacob and Melissa Sandoz; 2 sisters, Darlene Stusse and Marcele Newman both of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don and brothers-in-laws, Harry Newman and Bob Stusse. Pallbearers will be Jacob Sandoz, Chris, Rob and Bob Cannon, Nick, Don, Ron and Randy Stusse.
