Julie Jons LaPlante, 47, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital after an extended illness. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Deacon James Sands officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Julie was born May 26, 1964, in Sioux City, the daughter of Henry and Ann (Whitcomb) Jons. She grew up in Sioux City. She graduated from West High School in 1981, and was an all-state gymnast. She then attended the University of South Dakota. She married James "Jay" LaPlante on Aug. 10, 1991, in Sioux City. He died Feb. 19, 1993, in Sioux City. Julie was officer manager for Moore Business Forms for many years. She enjoyed sailing and music but, most of all, spending time with her daughter and great-granddaughter. Survivors include her husband, Mike Audino of Sioux City; her daughter, Katie LaPlante and her significant other, Shawn Kobes, of Sioux City; her father, Henry Jons of Sioux City; two sisters, Jeanne Bisaccia and her husband Richard of Tampa, Fla., and Karen Holmen and her husband John of Ankeny, Iowa; a brother, Danny Jons of Sioux City; and her granddaughter, Rachel Kobes of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Jons, and her first husband, James "Jay" LaPlante.
