SIOUX CITY -- Karen S. Adams, 68, of Vermillion, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Tess Panamarrow officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Charter Oak Cemetery, Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Karen was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Carlson) Adams. She graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School in 1960. She married Gary Zoss on Oct. 23, 1960, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1967. She married Luie McMahan in January 1969; he preceded her in death on May 26, 2004, in Sioux City. She later married Steve Miller, who preceded her in death in 2006. Along with Sioux City, where Karen lived most of her life, she also lived for four years in Elk Point. She had lived in Kingsley, Iowa, for three years and for two years in Vermillion. She had been a foster parent in Sioux City for many years. She was retired and loving life with her family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, making purses, and spending time in the flower garden. Her number one love was spending time with her grandkids. Survivors include three daughters, Darci McMahan of Sioux City, Kelli Hilburn and her husband, John of Harrison, Ark., and Carri Crum and her husband, Randy of Vermillion; her mother, Lois Adams of Denison; a brother, Ardell Adams and his wife, Melda of Dow City, Iowa; two sisters, Lola Bloyer and her husband, Jim, and Reta Lingle, all of Sioux City; and eight grandchildren, John, Beth, Ryan, Zachary, Brady, Reyana, Kelton, and Audrena. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence; and her three husbands.
