LAWTON, Iowa -- Lora K. Wenzel, 93, of Lawton died July 30, 2011, at Char Mac Assisted Living in Lawton. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Revs. Ralph Shorey and Melbourne Helling officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Zion Cemetery, Delmont, S.D. Visitation will be one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lora was born Nov. 1, 1917, to Edward and Magdalena (Neth) Freier in Hutchinson County, S.D. Lora married Gottlieb Wenzel on May 7, 1939, in Hoffnugberg Church between Parkston and Tripp, S.D. Lora and Gottlieb farmed near Delmont and also owned and operated Delmont Lumber Co. for more than 25 years. Gottlieb died Aug. 29, 2003, in Sioux City. Lora was a generous and charitable caregiver for her grandmother, (Neth) Wenzel, until 1946; her mother, Magdalena Freier, until 1949; and her father, Edward Freier, until 1961. Lora's life revolved around family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and playing cards. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Myers (Ross) of St. Johns, Mich., and Loralee Fink (Dale) of Sergeant Bluff; three grandchildren, Troy Marquardt (Sara) of Macomb Township, Mich., Nikola Brown (Michael) of Kewadin, Mich., and Michael Fink (Brooke) of Rochester, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kyle Marquardt, Madison and Kendall Brown and Emma and Jackson Fink; one sister, Esther Conrad of Yankton, S.D.; one brother, Herbert Freier and his wife, Marilyn of St. Paul, Minn; and wo sisters-in-law, Sadie Freier of Scotland, S.D., and Laura Freier of Yankton. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Arthur, Rudoplh and Ruben Freier; and two sisters, Anna Jerke and Johanna Wenzel.
