SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Bernard E. Lantz, 87, of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Regency Square Care Center after a lengthy illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Bernard was born March 28, 1924, in Belgrade, Neb., to Frank and Edith (Partaka) Lantz. He married Anna Marie Jensen on June 28, 1945, in St. Paul, Neb. The couple moved from St. Paul to South Sioux City in 1956. He was employed as a plumber and pipe fitter since 1955, retiring in 1985. Bernard loved to cook, garden and fish. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. He enjoyed home improvement projects. His family and grandchildren meant the world to him. Survivors include his daughter, Coleen Prenger of Jackson, Neb.; three sons, Larry (Kathy) Lantz, Richard (Patti) Lantz and Jeffrey (Carrie) Lantz, all of South Sioux City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Marie, in 2002; and a sister. Casket bearers will be Don Prenger Jr., Scott Prenger, Bryce Prenger, Tyson Lantz, Brandon Lantz and Chris Lantz.
