Darrell Johns

Darrell R. Johns, 80, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at a local hospital. Per Darrell's wishes his body has been cremated and there will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Darrell was born the son of Fred and Irene Johns on February 26, 1931 in Sioux City. He worked at Sioux Tools and later for Curry Floors and Acoustics where he had worked for over 40 years. Darrell enjoyed fishing, hunting, and motorcycles. Darrell honorably served his country in the United States Army where he was a weapons expert in the Korean War and received a Korean Service Medal and 3 Bronze Stars. Darrell is survived by his significant other, Sally Downing of Sioux City; four step-sons, Russ (Renee) Parsley of Sioux City, Ty (Wendy) Parsley of Des Moines, Robert Parsley of Sioux City, and Dion (Sandy) Downing of Arizona; one step-daughter, Diane Johns of McCook Lake, South Dakota; 7 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
