SIOUX CITY -- Norbert A. Kemp, 70, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his residence following his battle with cancer. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m. and prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Norbert was born Oct. 25, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo., to Lloyd and Julia (Gillham) Kemp. He married Vicki Ludwigs on May 14, 1960, in Sioux City. Norbert worked for Farner Bocken and Sunshine Foods before working as a bartender at the Blue Mill, The Red Room and Sydney Lounge. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, sprint cars, playing pool, darts and golf. Norbert was a trustworthy and forgiving father and friend, enjoying his many friendships with those he knew and loved. Norbert is survived by his daughter, Sherri Newton and her husband, Rick of Sioux City; his sons, Norbert Kemp Jr. and his wife, Tracy of Abilene, Texas, Mark Kemp and his significant other, Mary of Sioux City, Keith Kemp and his wife, LaVina of Austin, Texas; his significant other, Dee DeHarty of North Sioux City; brother, Miles of California; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews of the St. Louis and Sioux City areas. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vicki; son, Joseph Paul; and brother, Kenny.
