Patty Ruth (Grace) Lloyd, 64 of Smithland, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at her residence after a long illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. A luncheon will be served after the service on Saturday. Patty was born April 20, 1947, in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Eugene and Virginia (Hall) Grace. She was the daughter of a naval officer and grew up in the southern United Stations. The family came to Sioux City when she was in her early teens. Patty graduated from Heelan High School. Patty worked for Western Contracting for several years, for Rochester Products and then as an independent engineering recruiter. She was a member of the Oto United Church of Christ. Patty enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, fishing, seeing nature around the country and was an avid Nebraska fan. Survivors include three children, Jo Copley and her husband Latt of Kansas City, Michael Dean of Raymore, Mo., and Patrick Dean and his wife Barbara of Sioux City; a brother, Mark Grace and his wife Tammy of Early, Iowa; a sister, Kellye Daily and her husband Tim of Jefferson, S.D.; 11 grandchildren: Courtney Kramper, Mikey, Isabel and Aubrey Dean, Cheyanne and David Dean, Jordan and Jesse Chesley, and Christopher, Cassidy and Dakota Copley; and Neal Lloyd of Climbing Hill, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael. Honorary pallbearers will be Mikey and David Dean, Jordan and Jesse Chesley and Dakota and Christopher Copley. A memorial fund has been established at the Oto United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 4, Oto, Iowa 51044.
