Craig J. Aasen, 27, of Sioux City died Thursday, June 30, 2011, near Onawa, Iowa, from injuries suffered in an auto accident. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Craig was born Aug. 25, 1983 in Sioux City, the son of David and Connie (Murphy) Aasen. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 2001. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Craig worked at Sara Lee for a short time and had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for the last seven years. Craig enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling and listening to music. Survivors include his parents, David and Connie Aasen of Sioux City; a brother, Mark Aasen and his wife, Michelle of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and their children, Elise, Anders and Hendrik; a sister, Ann Postello and her husband, Britton of Sioux City, and their children, Kamryn and Carson; paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Aasen of Sioux City, uncles, Mike (Kathi) Murphy and Brad Murphy of Sioux City, and Jerry Aasen of Grand Junction, Colo.; aunts, Debbie (Tim) Hummel of Bloomington, Ind., Terri (Mark) Abramo of Pequot Lakes, Minn., Karen (Steve) Sabasta of Sioux City, and Chris Aasen of Star, Idaho; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Vernon Aasen; maternal grandparents, Don and Jean Murphy; and the family dog, Maddy. Pallbearers will be Britton Postello, Chad Anderson, Nate VanNess, Josh Gries, Brandon Andersen and Mike Arndt.
