SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Donald L. "Don" Brown, 81, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his residence comforted by family. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Don was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Sioux City to Otto and Bessie (Lee) Brown. He received his education in Sioux City Public Schools before working at Sears. He married Bonnie Reed on Aug. 10, 1950, in Sioux City. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Don returned to Sioux City where he continued his career with Sears, working in management. He retired in 1992 after working for 45 years. Don and Bonnie enjoyed spending winters in Sleepy Valley, Texas, for the past 15 years. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golfing and self-brokering his stock trades on the market. Family was most important to Don. He loved life and was always on the move. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of South Sioux City; a daughter, Linda (Bill) Langseth of South Sioux City; two sons, David (Lynn) Brown of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Terry (Vicki) Brown of South Sioux City; his twin brother, Daryl "Butch" (Beulah) Brown of Sioux City; a brother, Richard Brown and his special friend, Dorothy, of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Heather Leininger, Don Langseth, Kerri Brown and Alyse Brown; and four great-grandchildren, Dylan Leininger, Dalton Leininger, Abby Langseth and Ella Langseth. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Brown; a sister, Helen Parker; a half-sister, Rose Prim; and half-brothers, John and Raymond Bolte.
