DAKOTA CITY -- Ezequiel "Zeke" D. Castro, 73 of Dakota City, Neb. passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2011 at his home, comforted by family. A Memorial Service will be at noon Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Nelson-Berger Northside in Sioux City with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Zeke was born Aug. 28, 1937 in Phoenix, Ariz., to Albert E. and Margarette (Diaz) Castro. Zeke married Carmen Guevara in Elk Point, S.D. on Aug. 10, 1995. He worked for numerous years as a laborer for Floyd Valley Packing in Sioux City before purchasing the Western Tavern in Dakota City in 1987. Zeke retired in 1998 when he sold the Tavern. He had various hobbies, including fishing, golfing, playing pool, and boxing, including training others in the skills of boxing. Zeke liked to tell funny stories, was a very giving, caring, and loving husband. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Carol of Hospice of Siouxland, Robert Robles (son-in-law), Norma Castro (daughter-in-law) and the rest of the family. Zeke is survived by his wife Carmen of South Sioux City, Neb.; children Zeke and his wife Norma, Lois and her husband Robert, Angela and her husband Sam, Liz and her husband Juan, Tomy, Marty, Victoria, Ruben, and Stella; brothers and sisters Jake Castro and his wife Lidia, Annie Welch and her husband Robert, John Castro and his wife Mary, Rosie Espinoza and her husband Robert, and Alan Castro; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Zeke was preceded in death by his mother Margarette.
