Robert M. Babb

Funeral services for Robert M. Babb, 88 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital. Funeral services for Robert will be on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Schmidt officiating at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Robert was born on November 4, 1922 in Hornick, IA to George and Mae (Harding) Babb. He graduated from Whiting High School. He served his country during World War II in the US Army. Robert was married to Dorothy Zalejka on December 30, 1955 in Sioux City. He retired from Joe Rosenthal and Son's in 1984. Robert enjoyed dressing up and playing Santa Claus for children, he also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a coach for over 10 years for handicap children. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Babb of Sioux City; son Bill Babb of Sioux City; 3 grandchildren Thaddeus, Caleb, and Sarah; and 2 great grandchildren Ethan and Katlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
