Dorothy Catherine Zimmerman

Dorothy Catherine Zimmerman, 85, of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Per Dorothy's request, her body was cremated, and no services are planned. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dorothy was born March 7, 1922, in Sioux City, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Reichling) Loetz. She attended St. Boniface School through the eighth grade; then West Junior and Central High School.

She married Leslie Zimmerman on July 10, 1947, in Hartington, Neb. He preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1971, in Sioux City. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City. Dorothy was proud of her work in the school and Senior Center libraries.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Sioux City Senior Center. Dorothy liked cats, embroidering and especially reading.

Survivors include four sons, Leslie Zimmerman and his wife, Rose of Sioux City, Thomas Zimmerman of Milwaukee, Wis., John Zimmerman of Sioux City and Robert Zimmerman of Sioux City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
