Brandon Cruz Zeitner, 33, of Sioux City died Friday, April 13, 2007, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a brief illness.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Karen Kaye of Salem Lutheran Church in Dakota City. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Brandon was born Aug. 13, 1973, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of George C. and Jeannine J. (Surber) Zeitner. He grew up in Grinnell and Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Palm Springs (CA) High School and attended the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif. Brandon participated in the second and third place team high school finishes in the Iowa State championship. But he was most proud of the first place team championship in the state of California.
Brandon was a PGA apprentice and worked in Davenport, Iowa as well as Schaumburg, Ill. He loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers and fishing. However, he especially loved the times he watched his son play ball.
Survivors include his beloved son, Malachi Zeitner of Sioux City; his parents, George and Jeannine Zeitner of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Billi Jo and Ken Paxson of Marshalltown, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Brad and Beth Zeitner of Columbus, Ohio; his maternal grandmother, Francis Surber of South Sioux City; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Erwin Surber and Rufino Cruz; his Grandma Hope; and stepgrandfathers, Leonard Zeitner and Paul Cushing.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darren, Derek, Kyle, David, Frank and Justin.
