Martha E. Yates

JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Martha E. "Marti" (Bertrand) Yates, 61, of Jefferson died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at her residence.

Private family services will be held. Public visitation with the family will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Martha Eileen was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Martin "Sam" and Joyce (Rosenbaum) Bertrand. She lived most of her life in the Jefferson area. She worked in sales with Edge Teleservices in North Sioux City.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and pets.

She is survived by four children, Jeffrey Ryan and his wife, Connie of Sioux City, Jamie Ryan and his fiancee, Debbilou Lavinger of Sioux City, Amanda Ryan and her fiance, Richard Gosnell of Jefferson and Daniel Scott and his wife, Stephanie of Jefferson; her extended family, Sarah Sophie Hansen of Allen, Neb., and Terry and Lynn Mahoney of Sioux City and their children; a brother, Philip Bertrand and his wife, Sherry of Jefferson; 15 grandchildren, Jamie Jr., Jonathan, Joshua, Anthony, Jeffrey Jr., Zachary, Jacob, Destiny, Kristin, Richard, Amanda, Collin, Zeena, Summer and Stevie; and three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Dowd; and her parents. She was joined in death by Emmaline, Raymond and Mitchell Scott, her grandchildren.
