L.C. Jody Yandell

June 25, 1929 — November 9, 2006

L.C. Jody Yandell, 77, of Dakota City, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A vigil service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. all at St. Michaels Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE: A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. also at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Dan Wittrock celebrating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Jody was born On June 25, 1929 to Frank and Liddie (Beard) Yandell in Harvey, Arkansas. He grew up an attended country school in Harvey. Jody worked in the logging industry in Arkansas until moving to Sioux City in 1952. He then worked at various meatpacking companies. On December 31, 1960, he married Judy Ebel at the Cathedral of The Epiphany in Sioux City. Jody retired from the packinghouse in 1980. After his retirement, Jody started his own garden, which eventually grew to about 20 acres. He grew a variety of vegetables and Jodys famous sweet corn. Jody had been a member of the farmers market in Sioux City for the past several years. He was also a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. Jody enjoyed going to coffee where he loved to visit with his many friends and especially at the farmers market.

Survivors include his wife Judy Yandell of Dakota City, NE: 1 daughter; Tracy Yandell of Omaha, NE: 3 sons; John Yandell and his wife Ann of Cedar Rapids, IA: Joel Yandell of Westfield, IA: and Jason Yandell and his wife Carol of Homer, NE: 7 grandchildren; Josh McNear, Jamie McNear, Michelle McNear, Aaron Yandell, Matthew Yandell, Gage Yandell, and Sayer Yandell, 2 great grandchildren; Hailey Botts and Skylynn McNear. His twin brother; M.C. Yandell and his wife Fern of Waldron, AR: brother, Opal and his wife Ola Mae Yandell of Waldron, AR: 1 sister, Frieda Carter of Waldron, AR: sister-in-law Dolores Livengood of Sioux City, IA: and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl J (Bud) and his wife Sally Foix of Omaha, NE. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jody was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother; Kenneth Yandell, 1 sister; Renee McConnell, 2 brothers-in-law Norman Livengood and Larry Ebel, 2 nephews; Darby Livengood and Gary Yandell.

Serving as casket bearers will be Josh McNear, Jamie McNear, Chris Foix, Aaron Yandell, Matthew Yandell and Sheli Livengood.
