Choum Xayyachack

SIOUX CITY -- Choum Xayyachack, 60, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will begin at noon Saturday, Feb. 13, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with a ceremonial cremation to follow. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home.

Choum was born April 16, 1949, to Kong and Puit Xayyachack in the Savanhnuket Province of Laos. He received his education in Laos before joining the Laotian Military. Choum moved to the United States in 1990, with his wife, Saeng and family. They relocated to the Sioux City area in 1993, where Choum worked in the poultry industry for a short time before joining the crew at IBP. Choum finished his career as a laborer at the Wakefield Egg Company. Choum was devoted to his family, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Choum is survived by his two sons, Khonsavanh Xayyachack and Phetsamone Xayyachack, both of Sioux City; daughter, Bangone Xayyachack of Sioux City; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Saeng in 2003; and daughter, Bousone in 1993.
