SIOUX CITY -- Lila Wyatt, 79, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Burgess Health Care in Onawa, Iowa.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.

Lila was born on Nov. 21, 1929, in Onawa to Orville and Beulah (Seward) Jones. She worked as a private housekeeper before joining the housekeeping crew at the Sheraton-Warrior Hotel in Sioux City. Lila worked at St. Luke's Hospital for many years as a dietary aide before her retirement in 1992.

She was a devoted daughter to her parents, and was their caregiver during the end-of-life illnesses they both endured. She had visited the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif., with her mother and brother, and found great joy in having met the Rev. Robert Schuller. Lila will be remembered by her family as a huge Elvis Presley fan.

Lila is survived by her brothers, Ernest Jones and his wife Patricia of Holiday, Fla., and Dean Jones and his wife Nadine of Santa Ana, Calif.; grandsons, Keith Johnson and his wife Christee of Sioux City and Ron Wyatt and his wife Bernadette of Omaha; special niece, Julie Jones of North Sioux City; daughter-in-law, Barbara Wyatt in Warrick, R.I.; six great-grandchildren; and several other nieces, nephews and their families.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents; son, Marvin "Murph" Wyatt; grandson, Benny Johnson; infant twin sisters; and sister, Patsy Berg.
