SIOUX CITY -- Ralph J. Wright, 95, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Hallmark Care Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Jennifer Santer of Third Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Ralph was born July 3, 1914, in Rodney, Iowa, the son of Amos J. and Anna (Franzen) Wright.
He married Rose B. Sluyter on April 24, 1943, in South Sioux City. He farmed with his father in the Kingsley, Iowa, area before moving to Sioux City. He was a self-employed truck driver, then worked for the city of Sioux City for several years. He was a journeyman machinist and did welding. The couple also owned and operated the Eat Stop Restaurant.
He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and hobby farming on his acreage on Correctionville Road.
He is survived by his wife, Rose of Sioux City; a sister, Vera Kirby of Coon Rapids, Minn.; four nieces, Janet Skogman, Karen DeVaney, Cheryl Oleson and Lauri Johns; and a nephew, Curt Sluyter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Wright.
Pallbearers will be Curt Sluyter, Mike Muecke, Ken Zentz and Scott Barto.
