Anna A. Woodward, 77, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Indian Hill Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Nelson ~ Berger Northside Chapel with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Burial of her ashes will be at a later date in Grant Cemetery in Ticonic, Iowa, near her infant daughter.

Annie was born July 6, 1929, in Grant Center, Iowa, the youngest child of George E. and Rosa Mae Babb. As a young child, she also lived in Hornick and Whiting where she attended grade school. She graduated from Maple Valley High School in Mapleton in 1947. She moved to Sioux City where she lived with her sister Lillian and worked at Davidsons for a year. On May 25, 1948, she married Melvin J. Woodward of Ticonic, Iowa, in Amarillo, Texas. They returned to Grant Center where they farmed and raised livestock on one of the family farms. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Pat, Pam and Bub.

Annie moved to Sioux City in 1969 where she worked for IBP, retiring in 1989. She was a Union Steward and Secretary of the United Food and Commerical Workers Union Local 222 for many years. After her retirement, she provided countless hours of loving care and guidance to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed her yard and flowers, and feeding her birds, squirrels and bunnies. Her constant companion was her cat, Porky, and she loved him dearly. Annie was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her former husband, Melvin J. Woodward of Mapleton and her mother-in-law, Blanche E. Woodward of Onawa; her children, Patricia A. Woodward of Lincoln, NE; Pamela K. Heinemann of Sioux City, IA; and Melvin E. Woodward and wife Alice of Sydney, AK; her grandchildren, Kevin (Denise), Lisa, & Kurt Heinemann, & Joseph & Jacob Bennett, all of Sioux City, Aaron (Effie Woodward of Chapman, NE; Adrianna Woodward of Sydney, & Christy Decker of Lincoln; her great-grandchildren, Kevin Heinemann, Jr., Jordan Bathurst, Alle Grant and Kayte Sue, Kyla and Kalyn Heinemann, all of Sioux City, Alexis Woodward and Riley Gervasi of Chapman, NE; & Michael Rieken & Nikki Hayes of Sydney; her brother, Robert (Dorothy) Babb, of Sioux City; her brothers & sisters-in-law, Mary Woodward of Mapleton,, Joe & June Woodward of Sioux City, Bid & Darlene Woodward of Cherokee, Jerry Woodward of Wichita, and Don & Sue Woodward of Ticonic. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter & father-in-law, Russell D. Woodward; her brothers Sam, George, Harvey & Jimmy Babb; her sisters Opal & Bessie Babb, Lillian Christy, Jessie Ray & Laura Lund; her brothers-in-law, Russell Christy, Glenn Lund, Red Ray & Everett, Lyle & Rollie Woodward, her sisters-in-law, Gertie Babb & Ava, Arlene and Marilyn Woodward, a grandson, Gary Rieken and a great-grandson, Milek Clifton.
