SIOUX CITY -- Edward E. "Cubie" Woods, 72, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Squires and Rev. Dr. Floyd Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.
Edward was born in Omaha to the union of Clarence and Elizabeth (Birch) Woods. He moved to Sioux City at the age of 5 and attended the Sioux City Public Schools. Edward served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956. Edward then returned to Sioux City. He was head custodian at Sanford Community Center for 15 years until retiring due to health reasons. Edward was an active volunteer for the Soup Kitchen when able and needed.
He married Laura Johnson, and to that union were born, Eric, Stephanie, Aleesha (Barthelemy), and Monique (Scarlett) Woods. To his second marriage and present wife Angel Woods was born, Natasha, Alejandro, Cubie II, Angel II, Edward Jr., Clarence, Sydney, Brandon Woods, and Alexandra Cruz.
Edward is survived by his wife; four children; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Blackwell of East Moline, Ill., and Beverly Baker of Sioux City; numerous nieces, nephews and friends will also miss Cubie.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; uncle; and seven children.
