Donald Wisner, 86, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Wisner was born Oct. 14, 1920, in McIntosh, S.D., the son of Albert and Julia (Sailer) Wisner. He attended Sioux City schools and received his engineering license while working at Swift and Company. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Betty Donnell on June 1, 1953 in Sioux City. Betty passed away on March 31, 2003. He worked for Swift and Company from 1947 to 1983, retiring as a engineer.
He was extremely interested in mechanics, hunting, fishing and reading. He also enjoyed farming and raising livestock. The couple enjoyed traveling the country.
Survivors include five children, Mary VanDonselaar of Hubbard, Neb., Deborah L. (Bradley) Early of Cincinnati, Ohio, Danny Wisner of Sioux City, Diana (Kevin) Heeney of Hubbard and Dennis D. Wisner of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Jeff and Cyndy VanDonselaar, Daniel and Brian Early, Joshua and Mitchell Wisner, Jessica, Kendra and Alexa Heeney; eight great-grandchildren, Katrina, Molly, Katie, Alex, Christian, Jessica, Andrew and Tanner; and three sisters, Marjorie Murphy of Staten Island, N.Y., Irene (Donald) Rasmussen of Sioux City and Betty Ann Looney of Grand Prairie, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Andrew Wisner; a son, Donald Wisner; and a granddaughter, Laurie VanDonselaar.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Mike, Danny and Bobby Murphy and Dave and John Rasmussen. Honorary pallbearers will be the late Rich Murphy and Joey Murphy.
