SIOUX CITY -- Mary E. Wiggs, 79, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mary, the daughter of Jasper and Josephine (Sullivan) Graffeo, was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Plainview, Neb. She graduated from Central High School and went on to complete her general studies at Iowa State University. She graduated from Morningside College with her degree in library science in 1970.
She married Mike Wiggs on Jan. 18, 1969, in South Sioux City. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She worked in customer service for Northwestern Bell for more than 35 years. She also worked as a census taker and for Alltel Wireless.
She enjoyed traveling, long walks, reading, going to garage sales and feeding the birds outside her home. She also liked musicals and concerts and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Mike of Sioux City; a daughter, Margaret "Marty" Saville of Sioux City; a stepson, Michael (Debbie) Wiggs of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Tamara Ellefson of Fredrick, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Ian Wiggs and George Saville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Siouxland or June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
