SIOUX CITY -- Daniel G. Wetzel, 51, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at his residence.
Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Daniel was born Dec. 31, 1958, in Greenville, S.C., to Earl and Patsy (Pratt) Wetzel. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from West High School in 1977. Also in 1977, he enlisted in the military, where he was an aircraft maintenance specialist with the U.S. Air Force.
He married Constance Faber on Oct. 10, 2009, in Sioux City. He worked at American Popcorn Company for 28 years before retiring.
His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends and he had a lot of friends. He was a very caring and loving man. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, fantasy football, and watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Vikings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; two stepsons, Michael Faber and his special friend, Wendy Marrow of Le Mars, Iowa, and Fred Faber Jr. and his wife, Jessica and their two children, Kylee and Blake of Akron, Iowa; his brother, Billy Wetzel and his special friend, Gail Terry of Sioux City; a sister, Linda Moran and her fiance, Neil Blohm of Allen, Neb.; a nephew, Travis Wetzel of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two nieces, Amanda Monroe of Corpus Christi and Brandi Wetzel of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Teresa Monroe; a sister-in-law, Kerry Wetzel; and an uncle, Jack Wetzel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Wetzel, Travis Wetzel, Michael Faber, Fred Faber Jr., Blake Faber, Larry Anderson, Ted Massey, Chris Elbeen, Neil Blohm and Troy Waldon.
Daniel loved life and we loved him.
