SIOUX CITY -- Steven J. Weisz, 55, of Sioux City died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at his residence from natural causes.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Vermillion, S.D. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Steve was born April 12, 1954, in Sioux City, the son of Charles and Kathleen (Manning) Weisz. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a 1973 alumni of Bishop Heelan High School. In 2008, he was honored as Heelan Fan of the Year.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His passions included sports, going to the movies and traveling. He loved spending time with his close friends. He was the godfather for Morgan Loutsch and honorary godfather to her sister, Meghan.
Survivors include his aunt, Carroll Cain of Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Scott Cain, Terry Loutsch, Tom Betz, Dan Pomerenke, Brady and Joshua Schilousky.
Memorials in his name may be made to a charity of your choice.
