Virginia M. Weigel, 75, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mrs. Weigel was born March 4, 1931, in Climbing Hill, Iowa, the daughter of Lester G. and Lulu M. (Sherman) Davis. She graduated from Central High School.
She married Phillip J. Walding in October 1946. To this union, 11 children were born. She later married LeRoy C. Weigel in June 1972. LeRoy passed away Dec. 31, 1982. She was a housewife and worked as a waitress at the Biltmore and Normandy Restaurants.
She was an avid bowler in her younger years. She enjoyed playing bingo and she loved to garden. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sioux City Eagles Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane McKenna of Durango, Colo., Susan (Dennis) Campbell of Sioux City and Lisa (Joe) Grage of Sergeant Bluff; seven sons, Steven Walding of Sioux City, Daniel (Dee) Walding of Sioux City, David Walding of Sioux City, Phillip (Bonnie) Walding of Sioux City, Mark (Carol) Walding of Sioux City, William (Laura) Walding of Sioux City and Jeffrey (Diane) Walding of Merrill, Iowa; two brothers, Gerald Davis and Dennis Davis, both of Akron, Iowa; a sister, Lois Davis of Elk Point, S.D.; 35 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; a daughter, Teresa; a brother, Lester Davis Jr.; and two sisters, Norma Taylor and Betty Lello.
