Helen B. Weidert, 98, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Holy Spirit Assisted Living.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James A. Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Helen was born Dec. 25, 1907, in Sioux City, the daughter of Carl B. and Maude E. (Hunt) Fleck. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She graduated from Cathedral High School. Helen married Earl E. Weidert on September 16, 1931 in Sioux City. Earl preceded her in death on January 29, 1981 in Sioux City. She worked at T.S. Martin Company for 13 years. Later, she was employed with Sioux City Crockery for 22 years, retiring in 1980.
She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and St. Boniface Rosary Society. At one time, she was on the election board at Everett School, District 3, the Carmelite board as well as a volunteer with the AID Center.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Denece and Ray Socknat of Ely, Minn., and Carol and Richard Kane of Versailles, Ky.; a brother, Vernon Fleck of South Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Fleck; and a dear friend and sister-in-law, Phyllis Fleck.
