Raymond P Ruhrer

Raymond P. "Ray" Ruhrer, 50, of Sioux City died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, due to complications from a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Ray was born Dec. 10, 1955, in Sioux City, the son of Ronald R. Sr. and Marilyn D. (Miller) Ruhrer. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He graduated from East High School in 1974.

He married Rhonda Kroll and from this marriage, two daughters were born, Nicole and Desiree. He married Brenda Warren on Aug. 25, 1994. Ray worked for Frito Lay for 27 years.

He was a member of the North Riverside Masonic Lodge 662 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking trips to Branson, Mo. and fishing trips to Canada as well as golfing. Ray was very handy and enjoyed doing remodeling work on his home.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda of Sioux City; two daughters, Nicole Johnson and her husband, Mitchell of Sioux City and Desiree Ruhrer of Sioux City; two stepsons, Sean and Steven Jackson, both of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Alyssa Jackson of Sioux City; his parents, Ronald Ruhrer Sr. of Sioux City and Marilyn Wilson of Kingsley, Iowa; a brother, Ronald Ruhrer Jr. and his wife, Heidi of Moville, Iowa; two sisters, Rhonda Bigham and her husband, Tim of South Sioux City and Robyn Sander and her husband, Bruce of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandchildren, Estella and Annabelle; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Terri Warren of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Wanda; and his grandparents.

Pallbearers will be T.C. Bigham, Josh Ruhrer, Sean Jackson, Mitch Johnson, Brandon Kollbaum and Jared Kollbaum.
