Myrne Ruchensky

November 5, 1931 — April 28, 2008

Myrne Ruchensky, 76, of Sioux City died Monday, April 28, 2008, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Myrne was born Nov. 5, 1931, near Primghar, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Hilda (Stampe) Lange, the youngest of three children, growing up on a farm near Germantown and later moving to Paullina, Iowa. After graduating high school, she worked in a medical office for several years, then moved to Sioux City.

Myrne met and married William Ruchensky on April 11, 1964, in Sioux City, living in Le Mars, Iowa, for several years before returning to Sioux City to raise their two daughters. She primarily worked in insurance with many years working for State Farm agents.

An avid golfer, Myrne was active in the Ladies' Day organization at South Sioux City's South Ridge, and earlier at Morningside Country Club. She also enjoyed baking as well as bowling and playing bridge, and served the Morningside Lutheran Church Ladies' Circle.

Survivors include: her husband Bill Ruchensky of Sioux City; two daughters, Debbie and her husband Larry Lewandowski of Roselle, Ill., and Dawn and her husband Josh Vaslow of Arlington Heights, Ill.; three grandchildren, Derek Lewandowski and Sam and Adeline Vaslow; a brother, Louis and his wife Marveen Lange of Paullina; a sister, Verlie and her husband Walt Hibbing of Houston, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Jim Lange, Larry Schwebach, Mike Schwebach, Walt Morris, Ray Pierre and Vern Roberts.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Siouxland.
