Kristen Kay Ruba, 45, of Des Moines, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, from injuries suffered in a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Nativity Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer vigil service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Feierfeil officiating, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Kris was born May 12, 1963, in Onawa, Iowa, to Pat and Jerry Ruba. She graduated from Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School in 1982. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College and Des Moines Area Community College. She lived and worked in downtown Des Moines. She was employed with Sodexho Corporation.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. She cherished her faith and spending time with her family. She loved music, movies and political rallies.
She is survived by her parents of Sergeant Bluff; a sister, Michelle (Larry) Stout of Ankeny, Iowa; a brother, Scott (Sarah) Ruba of Ankeny; six nieces and nephews, Ben, Katie, Nick and Jessie Stout and Emily and Andrew Ruba, all of Ankeny; a close uncle, Mark Ruba of Brooklyn, N.Y.; an aunt and uncle, Pat and Dennie Masuen of Le Mars, Iowa; as well as several other aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edith and Lawrence Masuen and Maxine Ruba; and an uncle, Roger Masuen.
