Ruth Rose

Ruth E. Rose, 82, of Sioux City passed away suddenly Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Pastor Mac McNeal officiating. Burial of her ashes will be in Logan Park Cemetery at a later date.

Ruth was born Oct. 6, 1924, in South Sioux City, daughter of Nordahl G. and Emily (Wormelsey) Hoaas. She attended Sioux City Schools.

She married Vincent W. Rose in Belton, Texas on Aug. 28, 1946. He passed away in 1984.

Ruth traveled extensively due to her husband's occupation and retired to Sioux City in 1972. She continued to actively do wood finishing and wall papering work throughout her retirement.

She was of the Lutheran faith. Ruth enjoyed cribbage leagues, playing cards, decorating, cooking, canning and spending time with family and friends. She raised blue ribbon dachshunds in California, and her pets and animals filled her life with joy. She was a friend of Bill W.

Survivors include a daughter, Charmaine (Richard) Ingram of Whiting, Iowa; a granddaughter, Darcie (Bill) Fuller of Sioux City; two grandsons, Marty (Patty) Ingram of Sergeant Bluff and Neal Ingram of Sioux City; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Shannon of Sioux City and Jean (Dan) Brazelton of Ankeny, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Bud (LaVonne) Rose of Lawton, Iowa and Duke Kettler of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Ima Braun of Lawton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Charles and William Hoaas; and three sisters, Evelyn Kettler, Eleanor Jensen and Beautrice Riley.
