Margaret V. Rogers, 97, of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2009, from 3-7 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. a vigil service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Holy Spirit Chapel with Father Dennis Meinen celebrating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, NE. at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 with Monsignor Liam M. Barr conducting the graveside service.

Margaret was born on August 7, 1911, in Chicago, the daughter of Harry and Nora (Bourke) Tennison. After taking a business course in high school, she graduated at the age of 16 and worked for Lumberman Credit for 13 years. She was united in marriage to Edwin (Ed) Rogers on March 2, 1934. They moved to Lincoln in 1952, and she remained there until 2005, when she moved to Sioux City to be near family. After Ed died in 1967, she worked as a transcriptionist for a court reporter, the Lancaster County Superintendent of Schools, and her favorite job, United Cerebral Palsy.

She loved to dance with Ed, sew, read, play her organ, and tell stories. She made friends wherever she went. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by a brother, Raymond Tennison of Chicago, IL, A son, Larry and Ruth Rogers of Brookings, SD, and their children Betsy Rogers of Lincoln, Libby Harper of Arizona, and Maggie Rogers of Brookings. She is also survived by her daughter, Nona Hartz of Sioux City, and her children, Matt and Wendy Stevenson and their infant daughter Estelle, of Iowa City, Christy and Tom Everingham and their daughters, Hannah and Michaela, of rural Westfield, and Sara and Bradley Britton and their children, Parker and Julia of Akron. She is also survived by her son, Steve Rogers of Lincoln and his son Andrew, of New Orleans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, her parents, and a brother, harry Tennison.
