Margaret J. Robinson, 68, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2007 at a local hospital. Closed casket visitation will be held on Monday, August 13, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. also at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Elem Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.
Margaret Jean Robinson was born January 28, 1939, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Oscar Hayes and Margaret Jones. At a young age she moved to Waterloo, Iowa and was raised by Ethel and Dave Galloway (mom & dad). She was educated in Waterloo, Iowa and later moved to Sioux City for better job opportunities. She met Charles W. Robinson, married soon after, and raised seven children. Margaret loved life and her children, she enjoyed her family, grandchildren and friends dearly. She worked as Assistant Administrator at the Sanford Center for many years, where she became MOM to all the kids and young people in the community. Margaret also was an excellent beautician and did hair for over 30 years. A lot of people will remember margaret as the Avon lady. She enjoyed selling Avon not for money, but because it was her way of visiting with friends and meeting new friends. She also was a member of the Eastern Stars. Her hobbies were crafts, bingo, gardening and she loved the casino's - Vegas was in her blood. Margaret confessed to Christ as a young girl in Waterloo. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and Malone Baptist Church in Sioux City for many years.
Margaret leaves to mourn her passing the love of her life of over 40 years, her husband Charles (Rob), two daughters - Gloria Vaughns and fiance Stan Gorman of Sioux City, Tena Butler and husband Fred Butler of Atlanta, GA; five sons - Johnny Robinson and wife Sue of Sioux City, Tony Robinson of Sioux City, Ronnie Robinson and wife Vanessa of Long Beach, CA; Kenny Robinson and fiance Sissy Banks of Sioux CIty, and Corey Robinson and wife cathy of Minneapolis, MN; 27 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Margaret is also survived by seven sisters, and six brothers and a host of family members in Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by three loving brothers and one sister; Henry Lee Galloway, David Lee Galloway and Walter Lee Galloway of Waterloo, IA; and Ethel Mae Jones of Mississippi.
