SIOUX CITY -- Leona (Hansen) Ringler, 89, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Sunrise Retirement Community following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Leona was born May 1, 1920, in Belden, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Abts) Jordan.

She married Henry Hansen on June 6, 1939, in Hubbard, Neb. They farmed in the Hubbard area for many years until they moved to Sioux City in 1953. Henry died in 1966, in Sioux City. Leona married Herbert Ringler on July 27, 1979, in Sioux City. He died Oct. 30, 1981, in Sioux City.

She worked at several retail businesses in Sioux City. She retired from Metz Bakery after working as a bookkeeper there for 21 years.

She was a former member of St. Joseph and Immaculate Conception Catholic Churches. She was presently a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson, Neb. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and square dancing.

Survivors include three sons, Henry Hansen and his wife, Mary of Sioux City, Phillip Hansen of Dallas, Texas, and Bruce Hansen of Sioux City; a daughter, Leona Hansen of Bellevue, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Hansen of Sioux City; two sisters and a brother, Delilah Fuehrer of Sioux City, William Jordan and his wife, Joan of Sioux City and Jeannette Woolworth and her husband, Merle of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jordan and Pat Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son, Francis Hansen; a sister, Elaine Jordan; two brothers, Edward and Robert Jordan; and two daughters-in-law, Darlene and Gloria Hansen.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kevin, Raymond, Daniel and Todd Hansen, Christopher Munson and Mark Hahn. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane, Cory and Tim Hansen, Chantelle Rudd, Kriss Hahn, Randy Donnelly, Debbie Yates and Kate Flannery.
